Hogwarts
Everyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the movies knows about Hogwarts. The famed wizarding school will no doubt be a major attraction in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It is also a fact that the public can enter the castle itself and some of it’s major rooms such as the Great Hall and Dumbledore’s office.
In fact, the castle is so much to Harry Potter it leaves one to wonder how Universal will incorporate it into the theme park…only time can tell!
Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods
Probably a shopping attraction, this newly introduced area seems to have a variety of items Filch would have taken - we’re sure to find, oh, a map perhaps?
Flight of the Hippogriff
This is perhaps the most exciting announcement, a roller coaster is showing up at the park! Just look at that concept, sure looks extremely exciting, can’t wait for this one!!
Dragon Challenge
This is certainly one of the more … teasing attractions - from what we can see, we’re guessing that it’s either a thrill ride, or an adventure/display of some sort. We’re routing for the former.

Hogsmeade
Hogsmeade! Home to another section of the theme park, this village will hold some of our most beloved attractions (and, apparently, snow!!).
Dervish and Banges
Dervish and Banges! Our favorite shop for all items magical, this emporium of the most curious artefacts should be a great souvenir attraction!
Ollivander’s
This is hands down our team’s favorite attraction. Just look at that concept! This is so classic. Looks great, and we can’t wait to get our hands on our very own wand!
Owlery
The Owlery, from what we can see, is more of a sitting area in Hogsmeade than the communications booth in the Hogwarts towertops the books would have us believe.
Regardless, it looks like a fun place to sit down!
Hog’s Head
What looks like a restaurant (doubtfully a bar, considering it’s most probably children-themed) is going to be a great place for dining, accompanying the very popular Three Broomsticks.
The Three Broomsticks
Ah, the Three Broomsticks - rather self explanatory. This is sure to be a marvelous dining (and yet amusement) attraction in Hogsmeade, and definitely a great place for (come on, Universal!) Buterbeer!
Honeydukes
Sweet! No, really. This is the sweet-toothed-Harry-Potter-fan’s dream - from every flavoured beans to chocolate frogs, some classics are sure to be found on those green shelves!
Zonko’s
Actually, this won’t exist in the park. It’s a trick.
Or is it? We sure hope not! The best place for all sorts of magical merchandise, Zonko’s should be a great place to get some of the, well, more innovative products!

We were soooo happy when we find out about Harry Potter’s park!! After that, we couldn’t stop searching about it!!! Admin, thanks for all that information, the blog’s really cool!!! We can’t wait to go to this park in 2010!!!! We’re Brazilian and we love Harry Potter since we were little, I’m sure we’ll manage to be there next year!
I agree a Gringotts ride would be awesome!!! It has been mentioned some where that there might be an alleyway themed like Diagon Alley, Imagine, Ollivander, Madam Malkins, all the food shops topped of with a ride to Bellatrix’s vault?!?! WOW!
AWSOME! I AM SO EXCITED. I cant wait to taste butterbeer and Pumkin juice. I want to see in side of the castel, Griffindor common room, maybe the chamber of secrets, Dumbledore office, the great room, the sorting hat, room of requirments has in the Order of the Phoenix. I wish we could find out when it is going to open so we can plan a trip. Does anyone know more about this?
I’ve been in the Islands of adventures about a week ago, and I saw a roller coster been build in the area of HP park.
I WOULD LOVE a ride through Gringotts. That would be amazing enough. But to boot they are making roller coasters and scenes and stores all for us!

dont get me wrong when i say this but its not much of a NEW land more of a RE-NEWED land in that lost continent will be gone, obviously its going to look totally different with the different scenery i.e the castle and hogsmeade but i was hoping for a totally different land away from lost continent that said it does make sense to convert the unicorn and D.dragons to go along with the themeing and im still very excited about the new land. i liked the idea of the gringotts bank as an indoor coaster, i’ve been trying to think of some myself… how about a whomping willow tree that will be sort of like a robocoaster if you know what they are. secondly how about getting in the flying car from chamber of secrets in a soarin’ kind of ride at epcot.

I can’t wait to go! My familiy and I are definitely going to go as soon as it comes out! I agree, a Gringotts ride would be amazing! Or a ride that makes you feel like you are flying a Nimbus 2000 or a Firebolt? That would be very cool! I’m a huge fan of the books and movies and I think this is a wonderful idea! Universal is definitely going to be making a LOT of money due to adding the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I think I’m most excited for the Castle! Ahhhh, I’m so excited I can’t even control myself!! Such a wonderful idea..

This is awesome. I can’t wait until it opens. I think that to enter into the Harry Potter are of the park, they should take you in by the horseless drawn carriage or by the hogwarts express. That would be awesome. I agree that a ride in Gringots bank would be cool too.
There is no Diagon Alley! I really wish people would stop suggesting they make anything to do with Gringott’s or Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.

I think you should make an inside rollercoaster, kindave like Rockin’ Rollercoaster, but make it scary..like something to do with the dark wizards.
OMG has anyone else noticed that the picture of hogwarts on this website is different than the one on the official wizarding world website (www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter)? Has it always been that way? Or did they change their structure plans on the castle…The two towers there on the right have been changed to what LOOKS like a clock tower of sorts on the official websites “gallery” section.
Scenery?
Statues of mythical creatures like the thestrals, more unicorns, the Whomping Willow, Grawp, more dragons…
Another thing that would be pretty interesting, somehow they do something where the guests could play with wands? like in an interactive “shooting” laser game or something like that? It could be a whole family attraction.
CAN’t WAIT!!!! They should have a ride where we’re in the Department of Mysteries and we have to kill any Death Eaters and Voldemort with remote wands
They could have a Hogwarts Express which takes you around the theme park like from Hogsmeade to Hogwarts tothe Ministry of Magic.
There should be a Slug Clu atnd Whomping Willow witha hole in it.
My eight-year-old son cannot wait until he is 10 years old so we can go see the park. He’s read all the books and seen all the movies.
a ride like going into the chamber of secrets would be cool to insert within Hogwarts, and i love the idea of being able to go inside various classrooms and Dumbledore’s office and possibly the common rooms. LOL AND THE WASHROOMS has gotta be interactive as well, like confronting moaning myrtle or the giant from the first book.
i also think duelling dragons will be transformed into either quidditch since the rollercoasters are facing off each other, or like the dragon challenge in the triwizard tournament. i dont know what the flying unicorn ride will be, but its probably aimed at little kids anyways.
the one im most interested in is the ride inside HOGWARTS!!, maybe like finding all the HORCRUXES under the invisibility cloak BEFORE VOLDEMORT CATCHES YOU!!!

I think it’s a great idea doing Harry Potter. I’m glad they do some roller coasters because I’m a fan of them and they should do a Harry Potter water ride at least one where you get wet. lol. What about Harry Potter 3D? I will be happy if I’m going. I’m sure i will because i love Harry Potter. I think they should do a dressing up as the Harry Potter Characters for kids and maybe some adults can have ago lol. It will be great if there will be a Harry Potter magic show on. I would like to try the Harry potter food. I bet it will be yummy. They should have the sorting hat there where they decide what house you re in. It will be interesting.

Hi every one! OMG I’m soooooooo excited by hearing this news. Here are some Ideas that popped into my head for the creation of the harry potter world:
Besides the roller coaster ride in the flying car or the gringott’s ride, there should be a ride in the night bus and in the whomping willow!
A divination classroom inside hogwarts where you can get your palm read
A miiror of Erised where it shows you some cool animations
A potions classroom where you are given some recipe to mix substances. Perhaps a drinkable juice?
Chamber of secrets where we can get a ride through the pipes skaping from the snake
A 3D ride into the forbidden forest or maybe on a broom
Make a qyuiditch stadium where fans actually get a chance to put on their sit belts and go on an exciting ride to play quiditch and perhaps others can also be the audience and cheer in the stadium
I heard that there are actual invisibility clothes developed for other uses but it will be cool if people actually get a chance to try them on
A dualling club! using remote wands to aim at enemies (statues or an animation)
It will also be awsome if we get a chance to visit the ministries of magic
By looking at the unfinished work of the reller coasters it looks plain simple, but maybe I shouldn’t judge early! But if its going to stay the same, they should make it look more creative!

I have been reading through the possible attraction ideas and the thought of the Weeping Willow as a roller coaster goes right out the window. As Universal is limited for space and continuous merging with the lost continent, gives Universal a daunting task to recreate the whole world of Harry Potter. So with the concept of the Weeping Willows, it would most likely to a simulation attraction as you the passenger would benefit the freedom and controlled scenario.

Ok so i just wanted to make some proposals ok so first there should be various rollercoasters becasue well basically in them u could incorporate quiditch and the flying car and the wompping willow. Also people should be able to go into diagon alley and knockturn alley. Also in the castel it would be really cool to have a sorting ceremony and you could go sit in the tables and then it would be great to meet all the character fromt he movie, the teachers and students like harry, hermione, ron, luna, ginny, etc. Also to go into the houses and have to go through some type of task to be able to enter. I think it will be great!!!
I think it will be a great experience for harry potter fans, i hope they sell wands of course with unique designs, not only the famous wands, and butterbeer and magic books, the only problem is that i think that the Hogwarts castle will be too small, i mean the hogwarts that we see in movies is really huge, you can see how huge is in goblet of fire movie in the hungarian horntail and harry flying scene. If it is not big i really hope they follow the exact design.
I just visited Unversal last week, and I did not see signs of much except for Hogwarts Castle. A lot of people are mistaking Dueling Dragons, a park rollercoaster, for a new ride being built in HP. The Wizarding World is almost being built around Dueling Dragons, as if it may be rethemed and incorporated into HP, but there is no new construction at the moment. I’m looking forward to it as long as it is not just a shopping venue.
I could also see a theatre with a 4-D movie coming in, just to accompany Unviersal Orlando’s Shrek 4-D, something that Islands of Adventure does not have, so that could be a shoe-in. It could invlove quidditch, and many of the beloved characters. I’m sure there will be a picture area somewhere, as well as “guest appearances”. The Wizarding World has a lot of potential, so I’m hoping that Universal can follow through.
I also don’t recommend buying tickets for WW’s opening day for a multitude of reasons;
1: The last ride Universal opened (The Simpsons) it took forever for the opening ceremonies to get underway, and once they did, it took for ever in the queues. It will be way to packed and unorganized. I love Universal, but opening attractions is not their forte.
2: With the above reasons, it will be very expensive.
3: Also with the above reasons, you will not be able to enjoy a beloved attraction in these conditions.
I say wait between 2 weeks and a month before attempting to enjoy yourself.
The Hogwarts castle looks different in the official website, anyway i really think that the castle will not be as big as the one we see in the movies, i mean u can see in goblet of fire in the flying scene of harry and the dragon that the castle is really huge.
Also i hope they sell wands and there should be an ollivanders wand shop where u can buy a unique wand for yourself not a replica.

It would be fantactic to see the books come to life everyone has made interesting comments about the new park and they have fab ideas on what sort of rides they want,i hope you are taking note! i had a idea, why dont you have people walking around in costumes and they can talk to the public about allsorts of interesting things try to sell them coldrens and dragon eggs!?!? you could have a few of them get into a battle with there wands and stuff. they can call everyone muggles and ask them how they got there. well hopefully nxt year i will be walking around the castle and scoffing a chocolate frog c u soon xxx

the harry potter series are THE best books like ever written, i am so excited for this theme park to come out, i will be flying from the west cost to the east coast to be there opening day, it is soooo exciting, i absolutley cannot wait!!! i love harry potter!!!
I really can’t wait for this, Harry Potter’s been a big part of my life since I was 11 or 12.
I’ll be 21 by the time this opens, but I’ll go in feeling like a kid again. It’ll probably be one of the best experiences of my life, next to getting married…but maybe better still. =P
This was my dream for nearly ten years now, I’m ecstatic that it’s finally going to come true. Another plus is that I can stop having to play grown-up for a few days. It’ll be fantastic. <3

Here are some of my ideas:
-and indoor rollercoaster that shows you harry ron and hermiones journey to get the sorcerers stone. at the start there could be the huge dog that you have to pass, and then you go through the vines into the “key room” then you reach voldemort and you have to duel him or something!!!! tht would be soo cool!!!
-a similar roller coaster through the chamber of secrets!!
-the hogwarts express that goes around the park
-the car ride in the second book could be made into a ride
-a whompng willows ride
-it would be cool if hogwarts was a hotel!!
-quittich ride
-a maze like in the goblet of fire
-a water ride with mermaids like in the 4th book
-dueling dragons could be made into a quittich ride..
-a sorting hat ceremony when you enter the park where you are assigned a group..gryfindor, slytherin, etc.
-a midnight bus rollercoaster
-a 3D ride of some kind
-a type of scavenger hunt where you get clues to find horcruxes or something

go to http://www.parksleuth.com theres a guy who has new videos every month of the work being done and he shows what attraction is being worked on, the basic part of hogwarts is done as well as Hagrid’s hut and Hogsmeade is starting
I’ll be shocked if it really does open by 2010. I mean, they’ve suddenly slammed on the gas for construction, but there is a MASSIVE amount of work still to be done, even aiming for a summer ‘10 opening. They really should have been at this point a year ago.
Consider: Disney’s Expedition Everest was announced in 2003 and opened in January 2006. Almost 3 years from announcement to opening day… on ONE RIDE. By 2004, the foundations were set and the framework started going up. By 1Q 2005, most of the structures were completed and they had the better part of the year to theme… on ONE RIDE.
My concern is that if Universal tries to bang this entire LAND out in 15 months, we’re going to get a substandard product. My hope is that they’ve been building the new super-ride inside the box from the day the box was completed. The downside is that this means that might be the only “big” ride planned for Harry.
I am SO pumped! In a way, I do agree with Dave. This was kind of a spur of the moment deal for Universal, but I reeeeeally hope they can get this all set up ASAP.

They should definately have moving and talking portraits like hire people to be in them or something and then they should have super interactive stuff like you know how when you walk down disney they have those random bands and people singing and dancing but then in Harry Potter you should have like a what’s your patronous look like kinda thing and then a scavenger hunt for the horcruxes in the castle!
OH and then you know how you have haunted houses that you can walk through well they should have a forbidden forest “haunted house walk through” and then have like centaurs or something popping out.
AND SHOWS! like poseidon’s fury but Harry Potter themed like in the first book when they went to get the Philosopher’s stone complete with the chess game!
Oh My,this is really exciting for HP fans but hopefully after orlando,florida they will build too here in asia,in the philippines since our country is planning to open a warner brothers themed park here and other amenities like casinos and entertainment buildings,surely asian fans will be crazy.that would be a hit,really,um no a really really big hit themed park of all time,please take HP park in the philippines not in singapore,because philippines is in the far east so that you know what i mean,it’s just the right location.haha no offense meant for singaporeans..and another thing is that there are really huge number of fans waiting here in the philippines.we will whole-heartedly welcome “the wizarding world of harry potter-manila” any filipinos out there?
oh,and i suggest that there would be a ride like quidditch game.hahaha and i noticed a lake or what near the hogwarts castle,i actually recommend that they take advantage of that by placing there boats that being used in HP1.remember the first time harry and his friends went to hogwarts yeah and with those lanterns.oh my..that would be really cool!and indside every stores or shops there will be portraits of the cast that moves-hahaha just like in the film.exciting indeed

Universal Orlando’s official WWHP website has finally added a new poll. WHY I am so thrilled is more than the question and choices themselves. BECAUSE…..the question possibly hints as to what emphasis of fear they will put on different aspects of the Hogwarts building ride or robotics and experiences thought the park. The question goes…….Which of these would scare you the most?: The Whomping Willow™[living tree in the Chamber of Secrets], a Hungarian Horntail[dagron in the Goblet of Fire], an Acromantula[giant, talking forest spider in the Chamber of Secrets], a Dementor™[soul taking cloaked skeletal being in the Prisoner of Azkaban], or a Basilisk[giant sepent in the Chamber of Secrets]. So far, a Dementor™ is the current favorite.

This will be awesome, Harry Potter in a theme park!!!! Hogwarts; full of moving stairs, talking portraits, corridors and ghosts. The forbidden forrest; creepy things, frights and spooks. Hogsmeade village; joys, food, kool products and wizard accessories. All this equals amazingness. Universal Studios have made alot of fans happy, and once this is opened Islands of Adventure may just be crowned the most amazing theme park ever! Just desperate to see the final design. Plus in Universal Studios Hollywood rip, ride rockit willopen and they’ll rake in billions of dollars. Well done Universal, Well done.

P.S. I think all these ideas are fantastic, and I was thinking many of the same things. I hope they do a good job, it would be awful to be this excited then to be disappointed. I’ve been reading these books for about 10 years now, so this is like a dream come true, as I know it is for a lot of people XD
P.P.S. To tell you the truth, I really wouldn’t mind waiting longer than this to go see it if they did an amazing job and made it the best it could possibly be. My only concern is that it won’t be as good as we wish because of the time frame its being built in.
I am super-excited to know that this theme park addition will be finished just next year AND that I will only be an hour away from the park; it won’t be a long drive!!! I am a huge Harry Potter fan so knowing that this will be a success and it will also be close enough for me to go whenever makes me want to jump for joy lol.
I hope they make the Butterbeer just as amazing as it felt to read about it. I will kinda disappointed if its not. A ride that incorporated us to do a real life task of Harry Potter like creating a certain potion a certain way or something… idk I don’t think they would do it but it seems really neat and It would put us in the position of Real students at Hogwarts!

they should have the hedge maze in the theme park some wear! That would be so cool! And they should have it so that you have to go to plate form 9 3/4 and get on a train to get in to that part of the park

I just hope that the rides are not ALL coaster rides and will be fun for the whole family. I would rather that the castle be more like Haunted Mansion ( but much, much cooler with special effects that are not 1960’s!) And if they do the flying car, what do you want to bet it is just another vomit producing version of Star Tours? Come on guys, please do not do just another generic ride with an overlay.

This is a really cool idea. I liked the books and I am glad that the USA is going to do a theme park on Harry Potter. I will be able to see what the school is like and see some of the characters. I also really can’t wait to try the Bertie Bott beans as I am a big fan of them too. I hope that they are in pull down tubes as individual flavours. This is going to be cool.

Thanks to my mom, I am hooked on Harry Potter. I am totaly excited about this wonderfull event! It is going to be wonderfull and fun and exciting. I agree wtih just me. I think that it would be great if the castle was done like the haunted mansion is in Disneyworld and Disneyland. There should be lots of surprizes lurking in the castle. I also think that there should be calm rides as well for the younger Harry Potter freaks.

I think that they should make a 3-D ride on the hogwarts train and have the dementors come on there. It would get really cold and the 3-D would make it seem like the dementor is only sucking out your soul. It would be sooooo cool. The train could shake and stuff! Ahhhhhh!

This is VERY exciting for my family - we’re all big fans! My son was only 3 years old when the first HP movie opened, 4 when I read the first book to him, and 7 when he started reading the books all on his own. I was at IOA a month ago and found out that there is going to be a special 3D ride and that the old Flying Unicorn Rollercoaster is being transfomed into a Buckbeak Roller Coaster.

So far all I have heard is that they are re-doing the Flying Unicorn(possibly a Hagrid & magical creatures ride) and the dragon Fire and Ice ride, I wonder what they will do with that one. I agree that there should be a Forbidden Forrest haunted house walk, maybe go in with Hagrid for “detention” or something and see Aragog, Grawp or Dolores Umbrige being carried off by the centaurs (now that would be funny, LOL). I guess we will just have to wait and see what the folks at Universal will come up with, I’m sure it will be fantastic because all the other rides/little islands are waaaaay kool!
There could be an incredible opportunity to have a themed dinner show in the Great Hall at scheduled times where diners are randomly sorted into houses and seated at their tables. The Hogwarts staff would be at the head table putting on a show during dinner - Gilderoy Lockhart would definitely have to be there. Animated portraits on the walls could interact with everyone. Candles, pumpkins, bats, cupids, Christmas decorations could “float” below the (computer generated) enchanted ceiling. Computer generated “ghosts” could glide through the room and interact with the guests. A change of weather could occur during dinner with the “sky” becoming thunderous and Voldemort putting in an appearance. Or snow could fall like at Hollywood Studios. Food would be served homestyle in big bowls, platter and cauldrons and spooned onto golden plates. Smoking juice and mead (from dry ice) could be poured from jugs into goblets. The wait staff could be dressed like house elves. The possibilities could be endless and ever changing and I could go on and on!
That would be a sure bet for me - but the food would have to be good, not passable, or forget it

I think it would be a great idea to build a gringotts and then have a roller coaster inside of it.
So you could be visiting the vaults and the cart goes out of control. And maybe the ride could run into a dragon.

i agree with another commenter….there should be a roller coaster where you are in gringotts bank going to harry’s safe, and the dragon that they have in there like in the books (as security!) starts to come after you when you go past the vault where the sorcerer’s stone was ! i think the fans would love that!!! i know i would!

I have been to universal studios before about 3 years ago but there will be something like top thrill dragster(cedar point ride)!
You know what would be awesome? If when you order your tickets online they were delivered in an official Hogwarts envelope almost like the letter of acceptance. If only they could deliver it by OWl.

i have been waiting for this to come out ever scince I heard about it. I have read all the books about 4 times and I cant wait. I think there should be every rrom in hogwarts that was ever metioned in the book. The should be a roller coaster that leadd to all the bank and knight buss every to drive people around. In the castle there should be tour-guides leading people around (if you want one) other wise you could run around yourself! I like the idea that you can go and visit privit drive. There should be a lake that you can go swiming in with a giaint octopus. There are so many thing I am ready to see and I hope they put them all in! I can’t wait!

I have been waiting for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Theme Park since the earliest mention of it. I have been a huge fan since the first movie came out and have read each book various times. My whole family enjoys the movies and stories as well. I have also collected Harry Potter items. I am looking forward to the park, I know that as soon as I step foot in the park I will feel like a kid again. The opening of the park can not come to soon!

I think it’d be a good idea to have people get to the park on the Hogwarts Express and maybe you could like, rent out Ford Anglias like the weasleys’ for people to drive around in and there should be a hotel for people to stay in either in the castle or in diagon alley or hogsmeade…. =]
The hogwarts express should be a tram ride leaving from platform 9 3/4 and traveling about the entire attraction site so tourists can look down upon the wizarding world as if in a tour and then the ride should stop at hogwarts where visitors can then walk around the park.

…I think it would be neat if there was a Shrieking Shack tour for Halloween… although in the books the ghost stories associated with the Shrieking Shack were debunked, it would still be cool to have a haunted house tour.

Also… they definitely should put in a Honeyduke’s. I would definitely be making a stop there once a year just to go there.
They ought to hand out free robes at the door. I for one would never get one on my own, and I wouldn’t really wear one… UNLESS they handed them out at the door for free, and really encouraged people to wear them. Maybe give out a free meal to random guests wearing robes throughout each day - as incentive to get people to do it. It really would improve the general feeling of the park if everyone looked like they were actually dressed like characters from the HP world!

Great idea with the Gringott’s roller coaster Michelle! I can’t believe I didn’t think of that - I mean, there’s a roller coaster already built into the Harry Potter world by Jo herself!! I am so excited for this park to open! I CANNOT WAIT!!!

I’ve been re-reading the series, and I forgot to search up the updates on the theme park. I can’t wait to see hogwarts! I’ve always wanted to go there as a kid.
Yes, Diagon Alley will be incorporated into the park. It will be the entrance into the Wizarding world. A Gringott’s Bank roller coaster has been speculated, but not confirmed. However a quidditch ride has been confirmed, and will be similar to the pteradactyl ride in jurrassic park.
Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley will be the shopping areas, and the Forbidden Forest and Hogwarts will be where the rides and tours will take place.

Wow I cant wait I saw harry potter and the half blood prince yesterday it is amazing. I have to talk my parent into letting me go I mean I am a hugde fan of harry poter so this theme par likeis a hudge thing. If they can make it like Disneyland has its different lands with the Hogwarts express going around the park stopping at every land..that would be cool. I like the idea of a combination of scary rollercoasters with not so scary rides like the Pirates of the Carribean. There are so many possibilities if they do it somewhat like that because that would give them room to expand to more attractions. I guarantee, this will give Disney a run for their money.
You know a lot of your ideas are great, but I don’t think you guys realize just how SMALL 20 acres actually is. To put that in perspective, Disney’s Animal Kingdom park is FIVE HUNDRED ACRES.
They won’t have room for nearly as many attractions as so many people have suggested. They will have the Dueling Dragons rollercoaster (re-themed) and I doubt they’ll have space for another coaster. They will certainly have some sort of dark ride, and shops and at least one restaurant. If they have Hagrid’s hut, it will likely be just a facade that cannot be entered.
I am so excited that they are building a Harry Potter park, but the park should be larger, or a separate entity. It should at least be on scale with the size of Disney’s smallest water park. I think a lot of fans will be disappointed when they get there and find the park to be no larger than a few blocks of their neighborhood. Or, to put it another way, only 1/30th of a square mile.
The Islands at Universal’s Islands of Adventure aren’t that large. You can walk to one end of the Marvel Comics Island to the other end in about two or three minutes at a brisk stroll.
What we need to do is show Universal how much interest there is in this new Wizarding World in hopes that they may someday expand it to something much bigger… closer to 50 acres maybe.
Frankly I hope they come up with a way for visitors to play in a Quidditch Game and take a ride on a Hippogriff. Those are two obvious rides (along with the Gringott’s rollercoaster (with dragon!) and rolling through the maze in the Goblet of Fire. Everyone who wants to should be allowed to be sorted by the Sorting Hat. I’m glad they’re taking advantage of Diagon Ally - I just hope they have Flourish and Blots and Dervish and Bangs along with the WWW and the Leaky and Platform 9 3/4. Heck, I just want to leave Muggle-land!

Great ideas so far. I’ve been a die hard Harry Potter fan since the first book came out. I’ve read all of the books numerous times and have seen the movies plenty of times as well. I can’t get enough of Harry Potter. I always wanted to enter the Wizarding World, especially Hogwarts. Ideas:
-Laser tag w/wands in the ministry of magic. (HP & the Order of the Phoenix)
-Hogwarts Hotel (a must)
-Money exchange into galleons, sickles, & knuts (at Gringotts)
I can’t wait to see what’s made of all of these great ideas, and the ideas that Universal is coming up with on their own.
We shouldn’t complain about the small size of the new park. With the economy as bad as it is, we’re lucky it didn’t get scrapped.
What about the shrieking shack as a haunted house? Universal is great at rides, Cat in the Hat, Jimmy Neutron, Shrek and my fav…3D Spiderman!! They’ll make it great.
The M&M store in NYC has a scanner that scans you and tells you your best m&m color and flavor…what about a wand scanner?
Opening day will be crazy and difficult. Better to go when the park isn’t as full. Ride lines are crazy enough.

I think it would be awsome if the entrance to the theme park was King’s Cross station and you entered through platform 9 & 3/4. While then splitting the park up into differnt sections like hogwarts, hogsmead, diagon and knockturn allies, and privet drive.

It’s nice to see so many brilliant attraction ideas. I have a few myself:
It would be cool to actually stay in one of the four houses during the visit. I like the idea about the sorting hat(though I don’t really know how it should work), and it would be so much fun, to be an actual Gryffindor/Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff/Slytheryn(God forbid it!)for a couple of days. So, Hogwarts= a hotel/generel awesomeness.
A scary-ride, stuffed with dementors, inferi, death eaters and of course Lord Voldemort, would def be a great thing also! This, combined with wands and protective charms perhaps ? And the scenerie could be Azkaban..perhaps? Uuuh, Scary!
I am also very much pro Ron’s house, that would be great aswell.

OMG if I known about this earlyer i wouldv talked to my mom right away i have some ideas you could do mecanical dementors,common rooms(gryffindor,ravenclaw,hufflepuff,and slyterin),let people have light up replica wands,being soted into a house,staying over to see what hogwars is really like,have classes,be able to dule,be able to fight dementors(light up wands are for that and lumos),make real potitons,be able to carry around the marurders mapand to meet the cast,take a 3D vision in dumbledores pensive,to have house points,have gohsts (peeves and nick snd other gosts),and have the pictures move,and i like what mical said the quidditch pich,passwords for common rooms,and a train ride.

Universal is a major American company that is actually ABLE to create a good park, plus Warner and Universal are hand in hand. Also as other people said, why should people spend an extra bit of money JUST to go to a theme park? I know your side too, and i am thinking on your side too, but Universal is American, and makes great theme parks. They already owned the land to build the park, and more people would go to the park if it was in America (greater population and fan base), which cranks in tons of more cash.

i’m sooooooooo excited about this! im goin to orlando in october but i want to go next year to this!!! instead of duelling dragons, they should keep the two ideas of the different dragons but replace with slytherin quidditch team and gryffindor flying around everywhere! they should have the hogwarts express as a ride for everyone going around the outside of hp land. and coz there wont be enough space for everything, do loads of rides underground or sometihng! like getting to chamber of secrets, going to bella’s vault and finding sirius in womping willow. forbidden forest would be great for rides like flying the car into the willow, and escaping from the spiders!!!!!1

I am a huge fan and i think they should build diagon alley as a ton of gift shops where you can buy trunks, robes, books, couldrons, and wands. But the wands shouldn’t be replicas they should be custom, they look like they are from the third movie (where they have the cool desings) and you pick oh and you should get brooms and quidditch robes

u can get the beans usually at alot of candie stores tht sell jelly bellie beans and theres also this awsome candy store called fuzzywigs. Its so cool u can buy chocolate frogs blood pops acid pops and alot more!

I can’t flippin wait until Harry Potter comes to life. It’s gonna be amazing. I’m definitely gonna be buying a wand that fits me best and going in to the candy store to compare from real life to movie. Hogwarts is a must and so is the Hogsmead. It’s gonna be great and I think I’m gonna have to spend all day there. It’s gonna be awesome.

the castle is way different from the movies !!!!there`s no quiddich ground and owlery like it is in the movies!!!!and the lake is linked to the castle`s riffs and there is a boat house down the castle!!!!!and as we can explore from the pc game , its way different!!!
FYI: DRAGON CHALLENGE = DUELING DRAGONS. They are just REDESIGNING parts of the ride to make it more Harry Potter-Esque!

The Dragon Challenge is actually a roller coaster. It is currently in the park already and called the Dueling Dragons (you can check it out at the Universal website). They are just renaming it and integrating some Harry Potter stuff into it
I already know we are going there all the way from Europe to see this park. Its going to beat Disney World by miles

I too am very excited by the announced opening, however, it does appear that two of the three rides will be just re-themed existing rides. Most of the world will be shops and fooderies and such, where all the Harry Potter fans can spend money to their hearts content. The new major ride should be and will be very good, but somehow I was expecting a little more in the ride category. If I am to believe what I hear, upwards of 400 million dollars will be spent, and with just one new ride, I don’t know……Maybe the avid Potter fan will be totally blown away, but casual Potter fans may be disappointed.

i can tell you guys that the Hippogriff ride thing isn’t gonna be as good as it looks, it will be fun for the kids, but not for just adults. before the construction started at the park the whole space was either empty or was part of the lost continent, which is being shortended for harry potter world. in the redone area they had “THE FLYING UNICORN” which was a kids ride where you ride around in a unicorn type car for about 20-30 seconds, all there doing for the hippogriff ride is changing the car on the “THE FLYING UNICORN” because the track is still there inside the construction site, so its just gonna be a remake of “THE FLYING UNICORN.” and the dragons challange is just “DUELING DRAGONS” with a little bit more decoration and renevating and changing the car types, so as far as i can tell the two rides they talk about in the video (the hippogriff ride and the dragons challange) will not be very new to most of Universal Studios frequent guests. Although, i have heard a rumor going around that inside the Hogwarts castle will be a robotic arm type of rollercoaster that will give you a tour of the castle inside, on Roller coaster tycoon 3 they have a coaster like this in the game. so that is one big thing to be looking forward to. please comment if you think my acusations are wrong. OH, AND MAKE SURE TO RIDE “HOLLYWOOD RIP RIDE ROCKIT” IN UNIVERSAL STUDIOS! I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE TO RIDE IT ON THE FIRST DAY THEY OPENED IT TO GUESTS! IT WAS AWESOME! It’s about time some else capitalized on the Harry Potter Stuff. Your park is looking good - After reading some of the comments - I think the Bathroom part with a scary ghost voice would be a neat addition, and the Whomping Tree would be cute to gather round as it talks to passers by, I also am very surprised no Quiditch - even a sky ride around the park could be done in a Quidtitch theme. But I will have to wait and see how this is all put together by you and spend more money on Harry Potter Gear. THANKS.

I am so glad you muggles are so excited about the theme park. But I am mad how this person (Rowling) is getting all the credit for writing the books. Why isn’t my mother, Ginny, getting any credit? Huh? What about Harry Potter himself? I know none of you believe this is real (even if I’m telling you right now), but this isn’t fair. I don’t know why J. K. Rowling is getting all famous. I don’t even know if she knows it’s real. If she doesn’t, I don’t blame her, but if she does, she is not a good person.
I know that you muggles won’t believe me (and I hope only a couple of you do or the Minister of Magic will be angry), and the reason I’m writing this, is so some of you will believe me and tell me so I will be a little less angry.
And if I get a few of you to believe me, lets thank my grandfather, Arthur Wealey for teaching me how to contact muggles and use the internet. Lets thank Harry Potter, who stopped Voldemort from killing all you muggles! If it weren’t for my father, this theme park wouldn’t even exist! They took away the Forbidden Forrest? I am guessing they will have moved it to the ride: Harry Potter and the FORBIDDEN Journey? Apparently (tell me if I am wrong) the ride will feature OVER a dozen (13+) famous bits from the Harry Potter series. What would be your top thirteen exciting scenes that you would like to see in the ride? Just pretend the pre-show showed Harry getting invited to Hogwarts, sorted and stuff… (These bits wouldn’t be too exciting on the actual ride). Mine would be:
HARRY POTTER AND THE FORBIDDEN JOURNEY: TOP 15 HARRY POTTER CLIMAXES IDEAS
1. Harry’s First Game of Quidditch - Just a good, fast game, good opening scene (Philosopher’s Stone), yes it WAS and STILL IS called the Philosopher’s Stone! (J.K Rowling regrets letting Scholastic have the alternate name Sorcerer’s Stone, because people are getting them confused)
2. The Journey through the Trapdoor - Fluffy, Devils Snare, Keys, Chess, Troll? (Not in movie), Snape’s potions? (Not in movie) = (Philosopher’s Stone)

This should all fit, if you look at the size of the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Compared to Hogwarts. (That big white box that they first built is the Forbidden Journey, which people confused with actually being Hogwarts - Hogwarts is in front of it, and looks tiny in comparison). Hopefully Hogwarts will have lessons, (with the personalized Ollivander’s Wand) talking pictures and moving staircases, but probably not the staircase, it would be really dangerous, maybe only the staircases that are just there for looks, and not to be walked on, could move (If, there is room for these).

One more thing..what this theme park looks like at this point is just another money trap. They have ALL these shops placed where you can buy their stuff but honestly I am sure it is all going to be quite expensive. They have not included much for the die hard fans (MANY of us). It is rather disappointing at this time. =o(

You know what they should have? A computer dueling program thing, where you hold a technical wand and say a spell and the wand picks up your voice and shoots a spell at your opponent, who can respond by using a shield charm or dodging.

Please don’t everyone take this the wrong way, but get a life. Your imagination is always better than what reality is and the reality of the Wizarding World will be a money pit into which everyone visiting will be pouring money into. Unless you have very very deep pockets, you will leave the World disappointed you didn’t have enough green to purchase that very very special wand, or some other trinket you just got to have. Two re-themed existing rides, and one new ride, although that will be the high point of the World, just doesn’t make my grade for all the anticipation and fanfare of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Be prepared for long wait times, oh, and once again, bring lots of cash, unless of course you can conjure up some.
Me and my friends cannot wait for this place to open, the first place we wanna go to is Olivander’s nad then Honeydukes were getting excited just thinking about it. They should actually make a hotel out of this, if they do i’m staying in Slytherin House. OPEN FASTER!!!!!!!!!

I’m guessing by the location that the Dragon Challenge is Dueling Dragons and the Hippogriff is a new cart on the Unicorn track. Please tell me this is not true, but I would really like to know.

I agree with chris. Honestly I would have prefered Hogwarts castle just being a themed hotel. The theme park is going to be crowded and its going to be a money sink. I would rather take a tour through a building than to watch the harry potter franchise be exploited to make millions of dollars by selling over priced merchandise. I might go, but if I do I will probably do little more than take a walk around the park. The rides seem silly to me, and I don’t think I could bring myself to buy anything that I have heard mentioned.

Actually, in the movies, Hogwarts looks really small to the real thing. And it’s probably much smaller at the park than in the movies.

Cool! I heard Hogsmeade will contain all the shops and resaurants, Ollivander’s Zioko’s etc. The dragon challenge is definitely for 7th years! It is two (2!) high speed rollercoasters. not for first years, for sure! (Unless, of course you are a seeker!!) The Flight of the Hippogriff is a brand new/state of the art adventure ride near Hagrid’s Hut. “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey”,another state of the art adventure ride for all ages, the best one!! (in my opinion)This ride will be located at Hogwart’s, with many other shops, restaurant’s and other attraction’s Sadly, there is no Privet Hedge Ln or Gringott’s ride,as has been suggested. . I was so impressed with Universal’s Island’s of Adventure and this will be a GREAT addition!! thanx 4 the update.

I wish magical schools were that good here in Mexico, i know what i know thanks to my family.And of course witches and wizards need more ethic in their life here cuz they don’t care about earning money with magic even if they get exposed…

I think that the cementery set used for Voldemorts resurrection should be included as an attraction.
I can’t wait to see the park! We are from Austria, Europe and we also heared about the park! It would be also great to build Gringotts Bank.
Also a small tip: Maybe the sorting hat will dispose you to the different houses if you entre Hogwarts!

What an honor it is to be writing you. I too am upset that JKR has exposed the wizarding seceret and always told my american friends that this is a true story and she had no right to tell it. How is everything at Hogwarts. Sadly my parents have tried to supress my magic and did not permit me to go so I have lived amougst muggles all my life. However, since I have been legal for 2 years as of next month, I have been practicing magic and I am fairly good at it. You are the first person from Hogwarts that I have ever talk to. You know I’ve heard the Ministry has teamed up with the World Council on Magical Law Enforcement to put an internet-wide Muggle-Repelling Charm. I would believe it. In any case it’s nice to here from someone at Hogwarts. My ex-boyfriend graduated last year from there, told me dozens of stories about it. The schools over here in the U.S. lack that seeming old-world charm… much too Antebellum for my taste. Besides that we have a “dual-enrollment” program, which allows us to also attend classes at Muggle Schools for part of the day, an experience which I believe to be greatly beneficial.
Of course, since I live in Florida I’ll probably check this attraction out, it’ll be a hoot to watch the Muggles try out “wands”… Hope everything is well on your side of the world!

This is awesome! Harry Potter has been the center of attention around here, and opening a theme park would be so cool! My family is going on a cruise in 2011-it’s a 7 day cruise, but we have vacation for 14. That would be a great time to visit universal studios and going to HP theme park! But this better not be a scam for all of his fans. That would suck.

Amazing im probably the biggest harry potter fan in the world, i bet everyone says that. In the theme park they should have a rollercoaster that goes through gringots bank, and to harry potters safe where all his money is stored and you should pay some money and you get to take a couple of chocolate gringots coins. It will only be a couple but there gingots chocolate coins thats cool. Thats my idea so cool.

Honestly, I am a die-hard fan of Harry Potter. I’ve read the books more than 10 times, I own alot of tee shirts and merchendise, BUT I am waiting to buy a wand. I want one from here! Olivander’s wand shop is supposed to be interactive, and that someone (a witch or wizard) is going to help you find one like they do in the books!! Ahhhh! I think that the moment I step foot through that archway when I go, I’ll pass out from excitement and amazement.
This park will be EPIC! It will be every fan of Harry Potter’s dream come true! As soon as I heard they were doing this I freaked out…I knew I had to go! And look now! It’s only like, 4-5 months away from opening!! Ahhhhh!

Universal Studios Islands of Adventure will become one of the best theme parks in the world with this new addition to go along with its other incredible rides, I’m a little disappointed that their using the duelling dragons as part of the theme. It would have been much better to have had a new rollercoaster that could match the intensity of both the hulk and ‘the original’ duelling dragons. The wizarding world of harry potter is due to open in spring 2010, but that could be anything between February and May. DOES ANYONE KNOW A MORE SPECIFIC DATE THAT THIS PLACE OPENS?

Actually the Hog’s Head Pub will in fact be a pub. One website described it as, “a great place where muggles of drinking age will be able to enjoy some of their favorite magical beverages and have some drinks before or after dinner.” So it might actually be a pub which would be awesome.
I am so excited it looks amazing!!!!! I’m I going to be at the gates as soon as it opens…..hopfully! I agree with the womping Willow attraction. I think that they should do some kind of 4-d ride for quidditch that would be cool!!!! They should also do a think sort of like Magic Quest with interactive wands! They should also think about more rides thats what really gets a lot of peoples attention but don’t get me wrong It looks awesome keep up the great work!!!!
Well, I didn’t read through all of these, so I have no idea if anyone commented on this. The dragon challenge is being made from the current ride, dueling dragons- so it’s definitely going to be a really high paced roller coaster, with tons of spins and fast drops. this is all going to be awesome.
The forbidden journey ride will be the most technologicaly advanced ride in the world and some of you care about quidditch stuff. Rachel potter and charles, you guys need to get a life.
I cannot wait for this park to open! My family and I are going the month it opens!! I wish they’d update already!!

Also, it’s a little sad that they aren’t making a real ‘Station’ persay because that was a HUGE part of the seventh book! I mean, Harry wakes up there with the choice between living or dying! He talks to Dumbledore!!
And even if there is no Gringotts ride, they better have it so you can walk in and look around. I mean, it’s GRINGOTTS! Ah, I remember when Harry first walked into Gringotts…
I am very excited about this park, I have planned my entire Orlando vacation around this park being opened. I get what people are saying about Diagon Ally and it definately should be there, but they do need to keep these parks fresh. With so many things from the books that could be used, I think that for many years to come there will be more rides added to the Wizarding World. There is just so much more that they could do, and I think eventually Universal will keep adding to this part of the park. For right now though, this is a fantastic start, and hopefully in years to come we will see Privet Drive, and Gringotts Bank and many more of the great things the books gave us.

I know I read comments asking questions about Dragons Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriph. Dragons Challenge is the Dueling Dragons roller coaster that already exists in the park, the queue is being re-themed right now. Flight of the Hippogriph is a re-themed Flying Unicorn with a new station, queue and trains. I’ve seen the construction and the whole area looks great!

Todos los fines de semana nos juntamos las dos y vemos las pelis, leemos juntas los libros y jugamos todos los juegos de harry potter. nos gustaria mucho viajar y saber mas sobre este parque de diversiones,, es nuestra oportunidad,, ya que tenemos 12 años y empezamos a ahorrar desde que vimos la 6ta. pelicula y nos re emocionamos.

from what I hear it is a robotic arm ride and it takes you through all of the rooms in harry potter! I think it’s be better with like walking through! Anyway the wjole hogsmead thing is freakin awesome they re gonna make a ton of money off of me when I go this summer:)

I actually really dislike Harry Potter myself, and even I am excited about the new island, if it really looks like this. I have seen the skeleton structures in construction, and it could very well go exactly like this.

o my goodness gracious!! i love harry potter! i am so mad though because i am going to disney world in like two weeks we might also go to universal studios so i am MAD!!!!!!!! i really really want to go! i think they should just put in a diagon alley!! then there would be ollivander’s, gringotts, eeylops owl emporium, that ice cream shop harry goes to in the third book, madam malkin’s robes for like fan wear and stuff, and the book shop i forget what its called…oh yeah, there should also be a leaky cauldron!!! and a knockturn alley that would be sweet and they could have like creepy actors all around.

i wish they would ask the fans what they want to see at the park. i mean realistically i know you can’t put that many ideas into the park but i know of soo many exciting parts in all the 7 books that would make excellent rides!! SUCH as a scary ride where Ron and Harry were running for their lives from those HUGE spiders! OMG i hate spiders but that would still be a good one! i really HOPE they add more in the future!! i wish the books never ended but sadly it did another reason why i will go to Flordia to see this wonderful world come true!!
OMG!!!! I seriously cannot wait until I’m able to go to this park!!!!!! I’m literally counting down the days! And I cannot wait until i get to pick out my own wand at Ollivanders and order a butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow never knew there would be a harry potter theme park. I mean I’m just looking up harry potter and WHA-WHAM! hp theme park pops up!ONG! Who thought that one up? I can’t wait.The idea of Gringotts does sound cool ,but I can think of more rides.There could be a ride where you try to escape the basilisk, or maybe a ride where you can visit the forbidden forest or even one where you fly thestrals.Anyway I’m sure without these ideas I pitched in I bet it is gonna be cool.See u there.

After reading all of your comments, I had to add my own and I hope you are listening Universal Studios. At Disney Quest they have mastered the art of virtual reality games. What the Wizarding World is going to need is a quiddich virtual reality game so that people can play against each other as well as with Harry, Ron, and Jennie. Players could sit on a broomstick with a seat and even get a helmet (like Ron wore in the Half Blood Prince) that has the virtual reality goggles attached to it. There just has to be some sort of quiddich ride or game!!
